FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's basketball team fell 59-47 at home to Coppin State on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action.
Ny'Ceara Pryor led the Pioneers with a season-high 23 points. Pryor also paced the team with eight rebounds, five steals and three assists.
Carmen Williams tied Pryor for the team lead in rebounds with a career-high tying eight.

After Coppin State made a quick layup to open the game,
Amelia Wood hit a triple that sparked a 7-0 run for Sacred Heart, taking a 7-2 lead through the first three minutes of play. The Eagles answered with a 3-pointer, but Pryor and Wood made back-to-back buckets to maintain an 11-5 edge. In the final two minutes of the first quarter, the visitors scored five straight to pull within one, 13-12, but SHU held the advantage heading into the second frame.
Pryor scored a layup to jump ahead by three at the start of the second, but Coppin State went on an 8-0 run to come from behind and take a 20-15 lead by the 2:27 mark. A layup by Pryor with just under a minute left pulled the Pioneers within one, 20-19, heading into halftime.
The Eagles surged ahead by seven through the opening three minutes of the third quarter, but Sacred Heart went on a 7-0 run, highlighted by five straight points from Faith Papas, to tie the game, 30-30. Coppin State answered with a 7-0 run for their own to take a 37-30 advantage. Sacred Heart pulled within four, taking a 40-36 deficit into the final quarter.
Despite cutting the margin to two at the start of the fourth, Coppin State went on to take a 10-point edge, 48-38, with 4:36 left to play. Pryor scored five straight to pull within five with 3:45 remaining. The Eagles went up by seven twice, but
Emma Kirby came up huge with an offensive rebound and putback to keep the Pioneers within five each time. However, Coppin State scored the final six points of the day to take a 58-47 victory.
