FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's basketball team ended the non-conference portion of its schedule with a convincing 63-46 win over Post on Saturday afternoon at the William H. Pitt Center.
The Pioneers' defense was on full display today, as they allowed season-lows of 46 points and .296 field goal percentage to the Eagles. The team was also one turnover shy of tying its season-high mark with 20 by Post.
For the seventh straight game,
Ny'Ceara Pryor led the Pioneers in scoring with 21 points in 22 minutes today, her third game out of the last four with 20+. She also added seven rebounds, three assists and three steals to round out her stats.
Emma Kirby also crossed double figures with 10 points, four rebounds, one assist and one block in just 20 minutes.
Amelia Wood also had a stellar day with seven points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

The Pioneers burst out of the gates to start today's game, scoring 18 of the first 21 points to lead 18-3 at the 3:50 mark of the first quarter. Pryor bookended the run with a pair of three-point plays, hitting a corner triple and cashing in on an and one. SHU's lead hovered around 15 for the rest of the frame before Post banked in a 3-pointer as time expired to send the Pios into the second up 22-10.
Sacred Heart's lead ballooned to 21 points, 31-10, 2:56 into the second with a 9-0 run. Kirby, Pryor and Wood hit buckets in the surge, while
Faith Pappas' 3-pointer was the highlight. The Pioneers led by as much as 22 in the quarter, 35-13, before taking a 37-17 advantage into halftime.
The Pios did not let up in the second half, leading by a game-high 32 points, 55-23, with 3:22 remaining in the third. The Eagles chipped away at the margin for the remainder of the game but did not get close enough to make SHU sweat. In the fourth, Sacred Heart sealed a 63-46 win in the team's final tune-up before beginning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play on Thursday.
