CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—The Sacred Heart University women's rugby team placed third at the Crimson 7s Tournament at Harvard University on Sunday. The Pioneers went 2-2 to pick up their third-place finish.
SHU opened the day with a 22-5 victory over American International, followed by a 24-14 loss to Brown. The Pioneers took on the hosts, falling 31-7 but, based on their record earned a spot in the third-place game. Sacred Heart had a dominating 21-5 victory over Quinnipiac to end the day and clinch third place at the Crimson 7s Tournament.
Alyssa Cunningham led all Pioneers with 20 points, coming from four tries.
Josie O'Donnell was next in points, with 15 coming from three tries.
Fabiola Millien-Faustin scored twice for 10 points, while
Avonlea Wood added one try for five points.
Reese Torticill went a perfect 4-for-4 on conversions for eight points.
Reece Woods went 2-for-5 with four points, and
Marley Gurmendi went 1-for-1 for two points.
The Pioneers will be back in action on Sunday, April 14, at the New Haven 7s Tournament.
