NORWALK, Conn. — The Sacred Heart University equestrian team earned a strong second-place finish out of 10 teams at its home opener at Silvermine Farm on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers totaled 40 team points, finishing just behind Long Island University (LIU), which won the day with 47 points.
The event also marked a special celebration for the program's 14 graduating seniors, who were recognized for their leadership and dedication to SHU Equestrian.
Of Note:
- Leading the way for SHU were several standout rides across divisions. Ava Hufford captured first place in Intermediate Fences, while Emily Belies, Isabella Ruisi, and Sophia Poling each earned blue ribbons in Limit Fences and Limit Flat divisions.
- Kayla DeStephanis and Erin Phillips also had strong showings, finishing first and second, respectively, in Intermediate Flat.
- Additional top performances included Kylie Hwalek placing second in Open Fences and third in Open Flat, and Sofia Greene earning second in Intermediate Fences.
