THE LEAD
The Sacred Heart women's basketball team looks to bounce back into the win column as they close out a series of four-straight road games on Saturday afternoon in Beantown as they take on the Northeastern Huskies who are looking to snap a three-game skid with their lone win coming on November 7 at Yale.
SCOUTING SACRED HEART
The Pioneers look to get back in the win column following a setback at Georgetown on Tuesday night. Leading the Pioneers into the weekend match-up with the Huskies is senior guard Amelia Wood who has led the team in scoring in all four games and is the lone player to average double figures at 14.0 ppg. Additionally, Wood leads the team in rebounding with a 6.3 per game average and steals with eight total. Following her in the scoring column is junior center Emma Kirby who is averaging 6.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. As a team, the Pioneers are shooting 33.8 percent from the field (73-of-216) with 13 of the 73 baskets from outside the arc. The biggest area of improvement for the Pioneers needs to come in ball control as they are currently turning the ball over at a clip of 21+ turnovers per game.
SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN
Northeastern is looking to break a three-game skid with the afternoon matinee on Saturday, having dropped a home game versus crosstown rival Boston University and road decisions at Merrimack and Providence. Despite the 1-4 overall record, the Huskes are only being outscored by just over six points per game and are currently outrebounding their opponents by 2.8 per game. Individually, junior guard Yirsy Queliz leads the Huskies with an average of 15.0 ppg and is tops in assists with 16, while second on the team in rebounding at 5.0 per game. Queliz is certainly someone to guard close as she is not afraid to hoist up shots, currently shooting at a 42% clip (29-of-69) and is efficient from the outside at 15-of-36 (41.7%). Camryn Collins also averages in double figures for Northeastern, putting up 13.0 ppg.
SERIES HISTORY vs NORTHEASTERN
·      Saturday afternoon's game is the first meeting between the two Northeast based schools.
·      The Pioneers are no strangers to playing teams from the Colonial, including going 2-0 against the CAA last season with wins over Hofstra and Monmouth.
NEXT TIME OUT
For just the second time this season, the Pioneers will return to the Pitt Center when they next take the court to close out action in the month of November with a visit from the Mercy Mavericks. The match-up versus the Division II team renews a series that took a one-year hiatus last season. Tip-off from Dave Bike Court in the Pitt Center is slated for 7:00 p.m. with all of the action available live on ESPN+.
