Pioneers Post Seven Top-Five Finishers to Open Season at ESU Open

Josephine Larson earned first place at 207 pounds in her collegiate debut

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — November 2, 2025 — The Sacred Heart University women's wrestling team opened its 2025–26 campaign with a strong showing at the East Stroudsburg Open on Sunday, finishing second overall with 23 points, just seven points shy of first-place Lehigh (30 points).

Of Note:

Leading the charge for the Pioneers were Aaliyah Payne-Parris, Ahsia Torres, Madeline Hodges, Samantha Yap, and Josephine Larson, each advancing to the championship rounds after impressive early victories in their brackets. Larson capped off a stellar day by earning first place at 207 pounds in her collegiate debut.

Three Pioneers — Torres (110 lbs), Yap (117 lbs), and Hodges (180 lbs) — battled through tough fields to place fourth, while Alexandra Viera (131 lbs) and Love Daley (160 lbs) each secured fifth-place finishes.

The tournament also marked the collegiate debuts for Anastasia Dakoulas (138 lbs), Alena Gracia (145 lbs), Adriana Haskin (145 lbs), Gurleen Khartta (103 lbs), Bella Sowards (131 lbs), and Josephine Larson (207 lbs), all competing in their first meet as Pioneers.
