INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Sacred Heart women's rugby team took third place at the CRAA Women's Collegiate 7's Championship Tournament over the weekend. The Pioneers went 3-3 through the tournament to claim their best finish in program history.
On day one, SHU went 1-2, falling to Army (12-10) and Lindenwood (25-15), but took a win over Navy (39-10).
Heading into the second day of competition, the Pios were seeded seventh for the playoff rounds.
To open the day, Sacred Heart upset the #2 seed, Lindenwood, 14-12. SHU fell to Life, 26-7 in the second game of the day but still secured its spot in the third-place match.
The Pioneers defeated Army 31-7 in their final game of the day to claim its third-place finish at the CRAA 7s Championships.
