PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The Sacred Heart University women's rugby team opened the 2025 season with a 45-21 win over Brown on the road on Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers scored back-to-back tries to open the game, jumping to a quick 10-0 lead. Brown answered with a try and a successful conversion to pull within three, 10-7.
Sacred Heart added a pair of tries and conversions to take a 24-7 advantage at the half.
The momentum for SHU carried into the second half as the Pios tallied 14 straight points to jump ahead 38-7.
Brown scored a try and conversion to make it 38-14 at 51:33.
Sacred Heart added its last try and conversion of the day to lock in its 45 points; however, the Brown Bears added a try and conversion to pull within 21 for the 45-21 final.
