FAIRFIELD, CONN. — The Sacred Heart University Men's Volleyball Team crushed American International College in a three-set match on Tuesday night at the Pitt Center.

Records:

Sacred Heart (3-2)

AIC  (0-5)

Top Performers:

Ivo Dubs - 7 digs

Brennan Hoelperl: 19 assists

How It Happened:

Sacred Heart set the tone early in the opening set by jumping out to a 3–0 lead behind a kill, a service ace, and a point off an AIC attack error. The Pioneers kept control for most of the frame, using steady offense and strong serving to build separation. Jack Krausz caught fire midway through the set with multiple kills, while Alec Niemczyk and Zachary Wulff added timely points to keep AIC from gaining momentum. Despite a brief run by the Yellow Jackets late in the set, Sacred Heart stayed composed and closed the frame with a Krausz kill to take the first set, 25–18.

AIC opened the second set with early energy, scoring the first two points, but Sacred Heart responded quickly to even the score. The teams traded points through the early stages before the Pioneers began to pull away behind strong play from Ivo Dubs, Alec Niemczyk, and Jack Krausz. Sacred Heart mixed in a service ace and capitalized on AIC attack errors to stretch the lead into the middle of the set. Kills from Jack Chow, Zachary Wulff, and Brennan Hoelperl helped the Pioneers maintain control down the stretch, and Sacred Heart closed out the set on an AIC service error to earn a 25–16 win.

Sacred Heart carried its momentum into the third set, scoring early and never trailing. Jonathan Snider and Jack Chow sparked the offense, while the Pioneers used solid blocking and steady defense to force several AIC attack errors. AIC made a push midway through the set, but Sacred Heart answered with a key run that included a service ace and multiple kills to regain separation. Late in the set, Canaan Neary and Carter Lyons contributed crucial points as the Pioneers pulled away and finished the match with a 25–18 victory to complete the sweep.

  • Sacred Heart won in three sets vs AIC for the second straight time.
