Baseball Loses 7-4 to Yale

(New Haven, CT) – The Yale Bulldogs scored seven unanswered runs to beat the Sacred Heart Baseball team 7-4 Tuesday afternoon at Yale Field.

The Pioneers put at least one run on the board in each of the first three innings.  Dan Perez (Seymour, CT) drove a two-out RBI double to right-centerfield to open the scoring in the first.  SHU pushed two more across in the second on an RBI fielder's choice by Kenny Byram (Ponte Verde, FL) and a safety squeeze by Keaton Flint (Charlton, NY).  Billy McDonough (Ballston Spa, NY) drove home another with an RBI grounds rule double into the right field corner in the fourth.

Yale stormed back with a four-run third behind a two-run homerun to left-center by Jacob Hunter and a two-run triple to deep center by Josh Scharff.  Cale Hanson gave the Bulldogs the lead for good with an RBI single to left, followed by a sacrifice fly by Hunter.  They added another in the seventh on an RBI single by David Toups.

McDonough was the only Pioneer with multiple hits, going 2-4 with a run and an RBI.

SHU travels to LIU-Brooklyn to begin a four-game conference series Friday, April 20 at 3:00 pm.
