  • Thibault Drives in Three Runs in Baseball's 9-1 Win Over Rhode Island

    BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team defeated Rhode Island, 9-1 Friday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park. With the win, the Pioneers improve to 13-22 on the year, while the Rams fall to 17-19. Matt Aufiero earned his first win of the year after giving up no earned runs and striking out two in five innings of work. Steven Thibault led the SHU offense, going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI’s. Noah Centeno, Alex Perry and Elijah Brown drove in a run apiece in the win.

    FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team fell to in-state foe Fairfield, 7-0 on the road Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 12-22 on the year, while Fairfield improves to 20-14. Luke Hansen took the loss after giving up one earned run in 2.2 innings of work. Elijah Brown picked up two hits for the Pioneers.

With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 12-21 on the year and 6-6 in the NEC, while CCSU improves to 14-12 and 6-4 in the NEC on the season. Thomas Pinto took the loss after giving up three earned runs in three innings of work. Jake Frasca went 3-for-3 and drove in the lone run for the Pioneers.

With the win, the Pioneers improve to 12-19 on the year and 6-4 in the NEC, while CCSU falls to 12-12 and 4-4 in the NEC on the season. Ryan LaMay got the start and got the win after giving up four hits and striking out five in 7.2 shutout innings of work. Anthony Porrino, Jake Frasca, Danny Glendon and Isiah Daubon each drove in a run apiece to lead the SHU offense.

With the win, the Pioneers improve to 11-19, while Yale falls to 11-17 on the season. Jackson Aldam got the win after giving up one run in 1.1 innings of relief. Anthony Porrino and Danny Glendon led the SHU offense, as they each went 2-for-5 with two RBI’s apiece.
