FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Sacred Heart University baseball head coach Nick Restaino announced on Wednesday that Jack Kramer and Sam Mongelli signed their National Letters of Intent to attend Sacred Heart for the 2020 season.
"I'm very excited about adding Sam and Jack to the baseball family, as both are outstanding kids and exceptional baseball players," Restaino said. "They address needs within the program and we look forward to their arrival at SHU. As always I'd like to thank Coach Kiernan and Coach Mazzoni for their recruiting efforts throughout the year."
Kramer, renowned as a lanky, wiry strong RHP who uses an athletic delivery to pitch downhill effectively. A leader on the mound and in the classroom, Kramer led St. Peters Prep to a stellar 2018 campaign, including a 2018 Hudson County Championship.
"Jack's progress is exciting, he will be in line to compete for innings as a freshman," Restaino said.
Mongelli is a highly decorated recruit who starred for Marlboro high school. As a junior Mongelli was named the Varsity 845 Player of the Year, posting a .517 batting average (31-for-60), belting 10 doubles, four triples and five home runs. Mongelli led the tri-county region in batting average and doubles and tied for the area lead in home runs and RBI (32). In his 60 at-bats, Mongelli only struck and led his team to the 2018 Section Championships, advancing to the regional final.
