Baseball Falls to Stetson, 11-5

DeLand, FL. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team fell to Stetson 11-5 on the road Sunday afternoon.

Jake Frasca went 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run homer in the loss. Stephen Thibault drove in two runs, while Austin Markmann drove in a run as well.

NOTES (Stetson 11, SHU 5):

  • Ryan LaMay got the start and got the no decision after giving up three runs and striking out four in 4.2 innings of work

  • Luke Hansen took the loss after giving up four runs in 1.1 innings of relief

  • Jake Frasca went 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run homer

  • Stephen Thibault went 1-for-3 with two RBI's and a walk

  • Austin Markmann went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk

  • Stetson held a 2-0 lead before Frasca delivered a two-run home run to left to tie the contest at 2-2 in the top of the fourth

  • Stetson responded by plating a run in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-2 lead

  • With runners on first and second and two-out in the fifth, Thibault delivered a two-run single to give SHU a 4-3 lead

  • SHU added to the total after Frasca led off the sixth with a double, before Markmann drove him in with a single to give SHU a 5-3 lead

  • Stetson tallied eight runs over the next three innings to secure the 11-5 win over SHU

The Pioneers will be back in action on Monday, Mar. 4, when SHU takes on Stetson on the road at noon.
