Baseball Completes Comeback in 9-8 Win Over Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team was able to complete its comeback to defeat Yale, 9-8 on the road Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Pioneers improve to 11-19, while Yale falls to 11-17 on the season.

Jackson Aldam got the win after giving up one run in 1.1 innings of relief. Anthony Porrino and Danny Glendon led the SHU offense, as they each went 2-for-5 with two RBI's apiece.

NOTES (SHU 9, Yale 8):

  • Billy O'Brien got the start and took the no-decision after giving up one run in two innings of work

  • Jackson Aldam got the win after giving up one run in 1.1 innings of relief

  • Jake Frasca earned his second save of the season and struck out two in the ninth

  • Danny Glendon and Anthony Porrino each went 2-for-5 with two RBI's apiece

  • Trevor Fagan and Isiah Daubon drove in a run apiece

  • The Pioneers got on the board first after Isiah Daubon delivered a sacrifice-fly to score Joe Emerson from third to give SHU a 1-0 lead in the first inning

  • The Bulldogs tied the contest at 1-1 after tallying a run in the bottom of the first

  • With SHU leading 2-1 in the third, Porrino recorded a two-run single to push the Pioneer lead to 4-1

  • With the Pioneers holding a 6-1 lead, Yale struck for three runs in the fifth to trim the SHU lead to 6-4

  • The Bulldogs battled to tie the contest at 6-6 after plating two runs in the sixth

  • The Pioneers took a 7-6 lead in the seventh after Daubon scored on a wild pitch

  • Yale tallied a run in the seventh and eighth inning to take an 8-7 heading into the ninth

  • The Pioneers tied the game at 8-8 after Glendon delivered on a two-out RBI double

  • During the next at-bat, Frasca scored on a wild pitch to give the Pioneers the 9-8 lead and eventual win
