Baseball Drops Road Contest vs. Central Connecticut, 8-4

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team fell to NEC-foe Central Connecticut, 8-4 on the road Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 12-20 on the year and 6-5 in the NEC, while CCSU improves to 13-12 and 5-4 in the NEC on the season.

Danny Glendon led the SHU offense, going 2-for-4 with two RBI's, while Isiah Daubon and Austin Markmann drove in a run apiece.

NOTES (CCSU 8, SHU 4):

  • Luke Hansen got the start and took the loss after giving up four runs on four hits, while striking out three in 1.2 innings of work

  • Danny Glendon led the SHU offense, going 2-for-4 with two RBI's

  • Isiah Daubon went 2-for-5 with an RBI

  • Austin Markmann drove in a run as well

  • Jake Frasca went 3-for-4 with a double and a walk

  • The Pioneers struck first after Glendon delivered on an RBI single to give SHU a 1-0 lead in the first inning

  • The Blue Devils responded by tallying four runs in the second inning to take a 4-1 lead over the Pioneers

  • Glendon cut the SHU deficit to 4-2 after scoring Daubon from third on a sacrifice fly in the third inning

  • Daubon trimmed the CCSU lead to 4-3 with an RBI single in the fourth inning

  • The Blue Devils plated a run in the fifth and sixth to take a 6-3 lead

  • Markmann pulled SHU to 6-4 with an RBI single in the seventh

  • The Blue Devils tallied a run in the seventh and eighth innings to secure the 8-4 win over SHU
