Baseball Ties Hofstra 11-11 on the Road

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team tied with Hofstra 11-11 on the road Wednesday afternoon after the contest was called due to darkness. With the tie, the Pioneers move to 16-28-1 on the year, while the Pride move to 15-28-1 on the season.

Jake Frasca led the SHU offense, going 2-for-6 with three RBI's. Alex Perry and Anthony Porrino chipped in two hits and two RBI's apiece.

  • Luke Hansen took the no-decision after giving up three earned runs on five hits

  • Jake Frasca went 2-for-6 with three RBI's

  • Alex Perry went 2-for-5 with two RBI's

  • Anthony Porrino went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run

  • Trevor Fagan, Elijah Brown, Stephen Thibault and Austin Markmann drove in a run apiece

  • The Pioneers struck first in the second inning after Perry delivered a two-run single to right field

  • SHU added to the lead after Frasca drilled an RBI single to left to take a 3-0 lead

  • Hofstra responded by pushing a run home in the third inning to trim the Pioneers lead to 3-1

  • Fagan gave SHU a 4-1 lead with an RBI double in the fourth

  • Frasca served a two-run single up the middle to push SHU's lead to 6-1 in the fourth

  • The Pride responded with two runs in the fourth to trim the SHU lead to 6-3

  • After Brown pushed the SHU lead to 7-3 with an RBI double in the fifth, Porrino drilled a two-run homer to left in the sixth to give SHU a 9-3 lead

  • After SHU took an 11-3 lead, the Pride rallied to score eight runs in four innings to tie the contest at 11-11, forcing extra innings

  • After playing through 12 innings the game was called due to darkness with final being an 11-11


The Pioneers will be back in action on Friday, May 10, when the Pioneers travel to take on Mount St. Mary's at 12:00 p.m.
