Hoehn's 29 Points Leads Men's Basketball Past Mount St. Mary's, 87-79

EMMITSBURG, Md. - The Sacred Heart University men's basketball team was able to outlast Mount St. Mary's in the second half, defeating the Mountaineers 87-79, on the road Thursday evening at Knott Arena. The win improves the Pioneers' record to 9-13 overall and 5-4 in league play, while the Mountaineers drop to 5-17 on the year and and 2-7 in NEC action.

The Pioneers had five players score in double-figures, with Sean Hoehn's game-high 29 points leading the way. Koreem Ozier and E.J. Anosike each tallied 12 points apiece, while Aaron Clakre and Cameron Parker chipped in 10 points apiece as well.

  • Mount opened the contest with a 6-2 run, before the Pioneers responded with an 8-0 run to take a 10-6 lead with 15:39 remaining in the half

  • Mount St. Mary's responded with a 9-2 run to hold a 15-12 lead with 13:03 left in the half

  • After SHU took a 16-15 lead with 12:17 remaining in the half, Mount St. Mary's went on a 7-3 run to hold a 22-19 lead over the Pioneers with 9:33 remaining

  • With SHU trailing 27-24 with 6:59 remaining, the Pioneers went on a 7-0 run to take a 31-27 lead with 5:30 left in the half

  • The Mount went on a 7-2 run to take a narrow 34-33 lead over the Pioneers with 3:53 remaining

  • The Pioneers used the final 3:40 of the half to outscore the Mountaineers 8-4 to take a 41-41 tie into halftime

  • With SHU leading 45-43, the Mountaineers went on a 7-0 run to take a 50-45 lead with 16:31 remaining in the half

  • The Pioneers immediately responded with a swift 11-0 run over 2:03 of play to take a 56-50 lead over Mount St. Mary's
