FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart football team closes its three-game road swing Saturday night when it takes on the Bucknell Bison at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium at 6 p.m.


Last Time Out: SHU's eight-game non-conference winning streak was snapped last week with a 45-7 loss at Stony Brook. After falling behind 14-0 in the first quarter, the Pioneers closed to within seven on a one-yard touchdown run by Ose Imeokparia. The Seawolves responded with 21 unanswered points in the second quarter to take a 35-7 lead. Kevin Duke threw for 115 yards, completing 14 of 27 passes. Andrew O'Neill had a season-high six receptions with 40 receiving yards. Kevin Barry had a season-high 10 tackles and tied a career-high with three tackles for loss.


Quick Hits

- SHU is 14-3 in August/September since 2013. The Pioneers are 6-2 on the road in the first month of the season during that stretch.

- Fifth-Year running back Ose Imeokparia scored his fourth touchdown of the season last week, tying a single-season career-high set in 2015. He currently leads the NEC with four rushing touchdowns.

SHU vs. Bucknell


The Series: Sacred Heart and Bucknell meet on the gridiron for the third time Saturday. The two teams have split the first two meetings, with the road side winning each.

Last Meeting: SHU led 10-0 after the first quarter, but Bucknell outscored the Pioneers 30-6 in the second and third quarters on its way to a 36-20 win at Campus Field on Sept. 20, 2014. Bison quarterback R.J. Nitti threw for 276 yards and four touchdowns. RJ Noel had 197 passing yards and two touchdowns to Tyler Dube, but also had two interceptions. Kevin Barry had nine tackles and one tackle for loss to lead the SHU defense.

Scouting the Bison: Picked fifth in the Patriot League preseason poll, Bucknell moved to 1-2 on the season last week with a 30-9 loss at William & Mary. The Bison closed to within one point, 10-9, in the final 5:24 of the first half, but the Tribe scored 20 unanswered points in the third quarter to pull away. Quarterback Matt Muh was 15-for-20 passing for for 155 yards and a touchdown. Joey DeFloria rushed for 62 yards. Chanse Riley and Jon Fox each had eight tackles. Bucknell leads the Patriot League in total defense, allowing 249 yards per game.
