SHU Football Welcomes Seven During Early Signing Period


FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart football team welcomed seven newcomers during the new NCAA early signing period this week.

"I'm excited to welcome this group to Sacred Heart," said head coach Mark Nofri. "Our coaching staff has worked very hard to recruit student-athletes that can get us back in the Northeast Conference championship picture. This group of seven is a good start to getting us back to the level of success we've reached over the recent years."

Nasiem Brantley – Brantley, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound wide receiver from Freehold, N.J. had 52 receptions for 878 yards as a senior at Howell High School. He also had 20 touchdowns. 

Randy Brito – Brito is a 5-foot-9, 182-pound defensive back from Bronx, N.Y. that was an All-CHSFL selection at Cardinal Hayes High School. He was part of Cardinal Hayes' 2016 CHSFL championship team, and led Cardinal Hayes in interceptions.

Shamere Collins – Collins, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound defensive back from Millville, N.J., was a First Team All-Conference selection at St. Augustine Prep.

Travis Ecke – Ecke is a 6-foot-4, 225-pound tight end from Cheshire, Conn., and Cheshire Academy.

Troy Holland – Holland, a 6-foot-1, 150-pound wide receiver from Glenside, PA., was a Second Team All-Philadelphia Catholic League selection in 2016 after recording 40 receptions for 524 yards and four touchdowns for La Salle College High School. He earned First Team All-Philadelphia Catholic League honors as a senior this year. 

Lucas Nunez – Nunez is a 5-foot-7, 170-pound wide receiver from Bronx, N.Y. who was tied for second in the state of New York this past season in receiving yards. The 2017 Catholic High School Football League AAA Offensive Player of the Year, Nunez was a key member of Cardinal Hayes High School's 2016 CHSFL championship team.

Hayden Pruett – Pruett is a 6-foot-5, 245-pound defensive lineman from Flower Mound, Texas. He was a Second Team All-District selection this past season.
