BROOKLINE, Mass. - Sacred Heart men's golfer Peter Ballo (Stamford, Conn.) cut a stroke from his first round score Tuesday at the U.S. Amateur Championship at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass. Ballo carded a 75, giving him a two-round score of 151.
Ballo finished the stroke play portion of the tournament 182nd out of 312 golfers. The top 64 golfers qualify for match play. SHU alum Ryan Riley improved on his first round Tuesday by six strokes, firing a two-over 72 to finish with a two round total of 150, 10-over. Riley was two-under through the first seven holes, going out in a one-under 34. He then shot 38 on the back nine for his 72.
