HAMPDEN, Mass. — The Sacred Heart University men's golf team concluded its play at the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse, finishing eighth out of 13 teams on Monday.
The Pioneers had three golfers finish in the top-25 out of 82 individuals at the invitational. As a team, SHU finished 45-over par and a 909 total. Invitational hosts UConn took the crown, finishing 19-over par and an 883 total.
Nathan Kim led the way for the Pioneers, finishing tied for 10th of 82 competitors, shooting 7-over par and 223 for the weekend. Kim shot best in the second round, where he shot a 1-over.
Alex Manner finished tied for 17th in the tournament after shooting 10-over par and 226 for the weekend. Manner closed the weekend strong, shooting a 73 and a 76 in the final two rounds.
Saptak Talwar finished third in SHU's grouping and tied for 24th overall, shooting 12-over par, including shooting even on the first round. Hector Gutierrez and Clifford Lindholm rounded out the group, shooting 21-over par and 31-over par respectively.
The Pioneers are back in action on Sunday, Oct. 28 when they close the fall season participating in the Metropolitan Intercollegiate, held at the Montclair Country Club.
