Men's Golf Wraps Up Fall With Ninth Place Finish At Metropolitan Intercollegiate

The Sacred Heart University men's golf team finished +22, in a tie for ninth place with Manhattan College, at the rain shortened Metropolitan Intercollegiate. The event was the final round for the Pioneers during the fall portion of their schedule.

Players/Teams: 85/16

Pioneer Notes:

  • Saptak Talwar and Jake Sullivan posted identical rounds of +4, 70's to finish in as part of a five-way tie for 21st place
  • Sullivan started on the 10th, with a par, and then birdied 11 to go one-under to begin the round
  • He also birdied the par-3 second hole
  • Talwar finished with three birdies, posting 3's on the seventh, 11th and 17th holes
  • First-year Simon Trebon had 13 pars on the day, finishing at +5, 75, tied for 26th
  • Cliff Lindholm shot a +9, 79, and Nathan Kim shot +10, 80, with a birdie on 17 

The Individual Chase

  • Melan Dhaubhadel, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Preston Shortell, Manhattan, both shot one-under rounds of 69 to tie for top honors
  • Turner Foster of Loyola Maryland was even for the day, to capture third place
  • Five players tied for fourth at +1, 71

The Team Chase

  • FDU won the team crown by one stroke, shooting 287 to the 288 of Loyola Maryland
  • St. John's and Iona tied for third with rounds of 293 (+13) and Fairfield placed fifth after a 295, +14 effort
  • SHU's 302 was second amongst NEC squads, two strokes better than Long Island University and 35 strokes in front of St. Francis Brooklyn
