17 Pioneers Named To Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team

FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University men's hockey program had 17 student-athletes named to the 2018-19 Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team on Wednesday as announced by the conference.

Recent graduates Liam Clare, Zach De Concilys earned All-Academic team honors for the fourth time. Juniors Vito Bavaro, and Max Luukko, all became three-time Academic Team honorees. Senior Mike Crocock, juniors Jason Cotton, Mike Lee, Austin Mcllmurray earned their honors for the second straight year along with Michael Gilroy, Marc Johnstone, Matt Tugnutt, and Ruslan Rakhmatov.

First-years, Josh Benson, and Drennen Atherton earn their first honors along with sophomores Alex Bates, Marcel Godbout and Marcus Joseph.

In all, a total 209 student-athletes were named to the All-Academic Team honors this season. To qualify for the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team, an individual must post a 3.0 GPA or better in all academic semesters for which his team was actively competing.
