Pioneers Drop NEC Match at Bryant, 6-1

SMITHFIELD, RI (March 21, 2012) - The Sacred Heart men's tennis team won the doubles point but lost all six singles matches falling at Bryant, 6-1, in a Northeast Conference match-up Wednesday afternoon.  The Pioneers fall to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the NEC.

SHU senior Chadd Sullo (Orange, CT) and freshman Justin Pagan (Flushing, NY) teamed to beat Peter Hart Callahan and Zachary Morris, 9-8.  The Pioneers earned the point thanks to a win at #3 doubles by sophomre Luka Bagi (Branford, CT) and junior John Lopresti (Syosset, NY).  The duo beat Daniel Cournoyer and Andres Orobitg, 9-7.

Sullo lost in three sets at #1 singles to Morris, 4-6, 6-0, 7-5 while Lopresti lost in three sets at #6 to Richard Sipala, 6-1, 5-7, 11-9.

The Pioneers will host Boston University on Saturday afternoon at 1 pm.
