Sacred Heart University senior Christian Turner (Norwalk, Conn.) was named the Northeast Conference Field Athlete of the Week, after his performance at the Great Dane Classic. It is his first honor of the 2018-19 Indoor Track and Field season.

Turner placed fourth overall, out of 25, and second amongst collegians in the shot put on Saturday. His throw of 15.76m is a personal-best and surpassed the 15.7m qualifying mark for IC4A's. The effort ranks Turner second in the NEC, behind LIU's Clinton Belle. Turner also threw a personal-best in the weight-throw, with a toss of 15.05m; good for fourth in the NEC standings.

The Pioneers are in action this weekend at the Quadrangular Meet in Boston, Mass. with Boston University, Boston College and UMass Lowell.
