FAIRFIELD, Conn - Sacred Heart University men's volleyball grad student Emerson Waumans was named an All-EIVA Honorable Mention, as announced by the league office Tuesday morning.
Waumans played in all 21 matches and played in 71 of 73 sets for the Pioneers this season. Waumans led the Pioneers with 234 kills, which ranked seventh overall in the EIVA. Waumans' 3.30 kills per set also led the team and pegged him at sixth in the conference. Waumans' 279 points on the season and his 3.9 points per set led the Pioneers and ranked eighth and fifth in the conference respectively.
The Pioneers also had eight players named to the EIVA All-Academic Team, which was the second-most in the conference behind nine from St. Francis. To be selected the student-athlete must have a 3.30 cumulative GPA and have completed two semesters at their institution. The Pioneers who were named to the team includes: Ramiro Balaguer, Calin Butler, Blake Cox, Zakery Kakos, Michael McLaughlin, Noah Ricchetti, Thomas Wisniewski and Emerson Waumans.
The Pioneers finished the regular-season at 5-16 overall and 3-11 in the EIVA.
