Men’s Cross Country Finishes Sixth at Northeast Conference Championships

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Sacred Heart men's cross country team raced to a sixth place finish on Saturday morning at the Northeast Conference Championships, which were hosted by Bryant University. The Pioneers finished the race with 164 points. Mount St. Mary's took home its first team championship since 1998, ending the streak of nine consecutive titles by Central Connecticut State, who placed fourth.

  • Senior Dane Krchnavy led the way for the Pioneers in the 8K race with a 23rd place overall finish with a time of 27:23.3. Sophomore Corey Picard (27:45.8) was next in 33rd place.
  • Four Pioneers finished in succession with sophomore Moetiz Shilleh (37th/28:08.5), sophomore Ryan Corbett (38th/28:09.8) and junior Nicholas Pandolfo (39th/28:20.1) scoring points in the team's top five. Junior Scott Curtis crossed the line in 28:23.8 for a 40th place tally and senior Jake Tavernite (28:40.2) completed the team's top seven in 45th place.
  • Junior Joshua Haddity (28:50.6), junior Gavin Thurlow (29:19.4) and sophomore Christopher Gillis (29:42.0) completed the field of Pioneer runners.
