DeKrey was promoted to lead the sprint, hurdle, long jump and triple jump group in September 2021.
She debuted her first season at Sacred Heart in 2020-21, brining along with her six years of experience: three years in DI and three in DII. DeKrey previously served as Assistant Track and Field Coach at Nova Southeastern University, where she oversaw training and development for all sprints, hurdles, jumps and multi-event athletes, along with recruiting for each event.
She coached two athletes to the 2018 DII NCAA National Championship in Men's 200m and Women's Triple Jump. She coached first ever multi event-athlete in school history to 2019 DII NCAA National Championship in Women's Heptathlon and coached four school record holders. She was a coach for eight Peach Belt Conference Championship teams and had six Provisional National Qualifiers during the 2019 season. She also served as the Academic Coach, where she oversaw communication between athletes, counselors and coaching staff, as well as monitoring athlete's progress to ensure academic success.
Prior to Nova Southeastern, DeKrey did a three-year stint at Florida International (FIU) in Miami, where she was a graduate assistant for the Panthers' cross country and track and field teams. During her tenure at FIU, DeKrey coached four NCAA national qualifiers and five school record holders in multi-events, as well as jumps. She made her first break into coaching as a volunteer cross country coach at Buchholz High School in Gainesville, Fla. She then continued on her trek by serving as a volunteer coach at her alma mater, the University of Florida, followed by a position as the volunteer hurdles coach position at Pine Crest High School in Fort Lauderdale.
Before entering the coaching game, DeKrey competed in the 100m hurdles at the University of Florida in her hometown of Gainesville. She was a three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll awardee and earned her undergraduate degree in Sociology from UF in 2014, going on to garner her Master's degree at FIU in Hospitality and Tourism Management (2017). DeKrey is USA Track and Field and Cross Country certified.
