The Sacred Heart women's basketball team is on a four game winning streak, recently defeating the Seahawks of Wagner on Saturday 62-52. SHU is back at home Monday to take on the Mountaineers of Mount St. Mary's for their first game of the season. The Pioneers hold a 6-1 record in the NEC and are tied for the number one spot in the rankings.

Scouting the Mountaineers...

  • Mount St. Mary's comes into Monday's NEC competition owning a 2-9 record after the non-conference slate. The Recently opened up NEC play taking on LIU Brooklyn where they lost 63-60
  • The Mountaineers have been on a two game winning streak since starting NEC play
  • Going into Mondays contest the Mountaineers don't lead any major categories in the NEC. Although they edge the Pioneers in rebounding, averaging 34.1 RPG

Inside the Series...

  • SHU leads the all-time series with Mount St. Mary's 28-5, and currently have a six game winning streak after sweeping the Mountaineers the last two seasons
  • The match-up sits at 7-1, in the past four seasons. The last time Mount St. Mary's picked up a victory over the Pioneers was 2/15/14 in a regular season game that ended 76-63
  • SHU's Adaysha Williams, and Kimmel have started in all seven games against the Seahawks the past four seasons only losing once


SHU Against the NEC...

  • The Pioneers are 216-93 against Northeast Conference opponents all-time, and 205-71 during the Division I era
  • Sacred Heart has winning records against all league foes, posting winning records against Bryant (14-10), Central Connecticut (30-17), Fairleigh Dickinson (27-3), LIU Brooklyn (18-16), Mount St. Mary's (29-5), Robert Morris (23-10), St. Francis Brooklyn (27-12), Saint Francis U (22-11) and Wagner (26-9)

Kimmel vs. The Mountaineers...

Hannah Kimmel has posted double digit scoring against the Mountaineers in all six games, averaging 15.9 PPG. She has recorded a double-double in four of the six games taking on Mount St. Mary's, averages just shy with 9.7 rebounds. She has recorded double-digits scoring in six of the seven NEC games, and lead the Pioneers in their last contest with 19 points against the Seahawks.



Three Pioneers average double digits in while playing the Mountaineers in their careers. Hannah Kimmel leads the way with 15.9 PPG, then Kelcey Castro with 11.7, and Adaysha Williams with 10 PPG.


Collaborative Effort...

The Sacred Heart starting five has showed great success in putting points on the board. For the seventh game in a row, SHU has had at least two Pioneers post double digits points. Hannah Kimmel recently put up 19 points against Wagner. Two other Pioneers posted double digits in the last game, where Kelcey Castro had 10, and Adaysha Williams ended with 14 to help SHU take overtime win over Wagner 62-52.


Winning Streak...

The Pioneers have showed great success against the Mountaineers, taking the last five games. In the past four seasons, Mount St. Mary's has taken only one game from Sacred Heart, coming in 2014 where they defeated the Pioneers 76-63 in regular season play. The Pioneers have rattled off five straight since.
