The Sacred Heart women's basketball team is tied for the top spot in the NEC as the end of the season rounds the corner. The Pioneers currently sit at 11-3 in the Northeast Conference, and are currently on a two game winning streak, most recently defeating the Terriers of St. Francis Brooklyn. The Pioneers are 3-3 on the road in Conference play and look to break the trend, with a win over the Blackbirds of LIU Brooklyn this Saturday at 3:00pm.

Last Time They Met...

  • The Sacred Heart women's basketball team extended their win streak to six in a row after defeating LIU Brooklyn 66-48. the Pioneers were lead by Hannah Kimmel and Katherine Haines, who each recorded a double-double on the night. Kimmel finished the night with 18 points, and 11 rebounds, while Haines finished with 16 points, and 11 boards
  • The Pioneers held the Blackbirds scoreless for the opening four minutes of the second quarter, and followed up holding them scoreless for the first five minutes of the third quarter

The Pioneers have been on a tear this season as they sit at the number one spot going into the final two weeks of the regular season. Sacred Heart owns the number one spot, along with Robert Morris. RMU defeated the Pioneers in the NEC Championship last season, and with a ring in sight, the Pioneers have their eyes on the prize to get the job done this season.



Tykera Carter has been a standout performer for SHU in the last two games. Carter posted a season high 14 points in her last outting against St. Francis Brooklyn, and also drained the game winning three to push the Pioneers past the Terriers


Ca$h-rine Haines...

Katherine Haines has been on fire lately as she has posted back-to-back 22 point games. Haines finished the night against CCSU with her fifth double-double of the season, as she grabbed 15 boards. Haines who is known for grabbing her points in the paint also drained a three pointer to show shes a threat from everywhere.


Coming For A Ring...

The Pioneers posted their 10th win in NEC play after taking down the CCSU Blue Devils 82-61 to secure their spot in the Northeast Conference Tournament. The Pioneers have made the tournament every year since joining the NEC in the 1999-00 season
