  • Four Members of Field Hockey Earn Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Scholars Of Distinction

    FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced the 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I Scholars of Distinction. Sacred Heart University field hockey members Kelsy Hopkins, Kayla Kruk, Lucinda Cahill and Lauren Brushingham were honored for their academic success.
  • Field Hockey Has 20 Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad

    FAIRFIELD, CONN -- The Sacred Heart University field hockey team had 20 student-athletes named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA National Academic Squad. The Pioneers total of honorees is tied for second-most amongst Division I programs and is the most of the seven teams that competed in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in 2018.

    FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Sacred Heart University field hockey team was recognized as a 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award recipient. The Pioneers combined for a 3.65 team GPA in the Fall 2018 semester, which ranks second in the country.
  • Field Hockey Announces Signings for 2019 Season

    FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Sacred Heart University field hockey head coach Sydney Van Der Merwe announced on Tuesday that Mia Katterman, Kelsey Fithen, Julia Flood, Allison Frampton, Mikayla VanHorn and Alyssa Valentine signed their National Letters of Intent to attend Sacred Heart for the 2019 season. "I am excited about this class coming in," Van Der Merwe said. "They’re going to bring in energy to the team, they are all hard working players and can help us to get to that next level we are striving to reach."
  • Field Hockey Announces 2019 Spring Clinics

    FAIRFIELD, Conn. -  The Sacred Heart University field hockey team will be hosting its spring clinics for student-athletes from ages 5-18 years old on Sunday, April 7 and Saturday, April 13 at Yale's Johnson Field in New Haven.   • Brouhard Earns Longstreth/NFHCA Second Team All-Region Honors

    FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Sacred Heart University senior Allie Brouhard added another accolade to her Pioneer field hockey career on Monday, earning Longstreth/NFHCA Second-Team All-Mideast Region honors. The Division I All-Region squads recognized 160 student-athletes across five regions. Brouhard is the 10th Pioneer to earn All-Region honors and the first since Nichole Tolli was named to the second team in 2017.
  • Field Hockey's Season Ends with MAAC Semifinals Loss Against Monmouth

    WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Sacred Heart University field hockey team closed its season with a 7-1 road loss against top-seeded Monmouth Friday afternoon in the MAAC Tournament semifinals. Kayla Bedel-Franklin scored the lone goal for the Pioneers in the loss. The Pioneers end the season at 8-12 overall and 2-4 in league action, while the regular-season champion Hawks improve to 12-6 on the year and 6-0 in MAAC action as they advance to Sunday’s championship contest.
  • Field Hockey has Four Earn All-MAAC Honors

    WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Sacred Heart University field hockey had four members of the program earn All-MAAC honors, as announced Thursday night at during the annual Awards Show. Senior Allie Brouhard was named to the All-MAAC First Team, while juniors Kelsy Hopkins and Colleen McAninley and sophomore goalkeeper Hailey Power was named to the All-MAAC Second Team.

Kelsy Hopkins recorded a hat trick in the win, with Colleen McAninley, Emily Alexis and Allie Brouhard also tallying a goal apiece. The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, Oct. 21, when SHU plays host to Quinnipiac at 5 p.m.

The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, Oct. 14, when SHU travels to take on MAAC-foe Monmouth at 1 p.m.

    FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Red-shirt goalkeeper Alyssa Stevens was named the MAAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday morning. Stevens is the second Pioneer player to earn the honor, as Allie Brouhard took home the award earlier this season.

Marlena Koellner scored a goal and Colleen McAninley scored twice, with her second goal being the game-winner. The Pioneers return home to Johnson Field as they look to stretch their winning streak to three games against UMass Lowell on Sunday, September 16 at 2 p.m.

    Somerset, NJ - Field hockey will return to the Northeast Conference (NEC).   NEC Commissioner Noreen Morris announced that the Division I athletics league will re-instate field hockey as a championship sport for the 2019-20 academic year.

    WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Sacred Heart University field hockey team earned its fourth win of the season, as the Pioneers defeated Saint Francis University, 2-1, on the road Monday afternoon. Bridget LaRiccia and Makenna Crawford tallied a goal in the win. The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, September 8, when the Pioneers host Albany in its first home game at Johnson Field in New Haven, Conn. at 1 p.m.
  • Bedel-Franklin Scores Game-Winner in Field Hockey's 3-2 Win Over Towson

    TOWSON, Maryland - The Sacred Heart University field hockey team earned its third win of the season, as the Pioneers defeated Towson, 3-2, in overtime on the road Sunday afternoon. Allie Brouhard, Bridget Hopkins and Kayla Bedel-Franklin scored in the win, with Bedel-Franklin’s goal being the game-winner in overtime. The Pioneers return to action on Monday, September 3, when the Pioneers travel to take on Saint Francis University at 11 a.m. in Washington, D.C.
