NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Sacred Heart women's golf team concluded the first round of the Yale Women's Fall Intercollegiate Friday at The Course at Yale in 16th place.
Sophomore Ellen Nighbor (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) had the Pioneers' lowest round on Friday, posting an eight-over 79 on the par-71 course to tie for 42nd place overall. Estee Deschamps (St-Isidore, Ontario) finished the day tied for 75th with a +12 83. Alejandra Perez (Zaragoza, Spain) carded an 86 on Friday, tying for 81st. Abigail Hood (Gloucester, Mass.) was one shot behind Perez with an 87 to tie for 83rd. Stephanie Lowe (Cedar Park, Texas) rounded out the Sacred Heart scoring with a 90.
The Pioneers finished the first round three strokes ahead of Quinnipiac with a team score of 335, 51 strokes over par. Xavier leads the tournament at +13, followed by Harvard at +14 and Yale at +15.
The second round begins Saturday morning.
