Women's Golf Sits in Third After Day One at NEC Championships

DAYTONA BEACH, FL–– The Sacred Heart women's golf team concluded Day 1 play in third place out of five teams at the NEC Women's Championship. The team shot +33 to finish with a 321 team score on the 72-par course. Of the 30 competitors, Sacred Heart had three players finish in the top 10. Fairleigh Dickinson holds the top spot with a +18 and 306 team score.

Junior Ana Contreras leads the Pioneers and is tied for fourth overall after shooting a 76 for +4 in the first round. Chelsea Sedlar is just behind Contreras, shooting a +5 to finish tied for 5th. The Pioneer shot a 77 in round 1.
Hana Bowman rounded out the top-10 for SHU competitors as she tied for eighth after round one. Bowman shot +6 in the round for a 78.

Lauren Pelster finished tied for 24th. The Pioneer shot 18-over par to finish with a 90 total. Christina Massei round out the group, as she finished 27th. The first-year shot 20-over par to finish with 92 in round 1.
