HARTFORD, Conn - The Sacred Heart women's hockey team was outshot 41-16 and defeated 2-0 by the Trinity Bantams Tuesday night at Williams Rink in Hartford. The Pioneers fall to 5-13-5 on the season, while Trinity improves to 8-5-3.
It didn't take long for Trinity to take the lead on the Pioneers with Emma Tani knocking one past SHU goaltender Alexius Schutt (Elk River, MN) at 4:28 of the first period. Brooky Heron registered the assist on the play.
The Bantams added to their lead in the second period with Lauren Fitzgerald finding the back of the net at 1:31 of the second. Alessandra Bravi recorded the assist for Fitzgerald.
Schutt made 39 saves in the loss for Sacred Heart.
With three games remaining in the regular season, the Pioneers will host the University of Rhode Island at the Webster Bank Arena on February 8th.
