ANNVILLE, PA. – The Sacred Heart women's ice hockey team got off to a flying start scoring six times in the first period in an 11-1 win over Lebanon Valley College on Saturday evening.
Taylor Moreland opened the scoring with the first of her three goals coming after just 1:10 of play. Gabrielle Majenski netted the second for the Pioneers under a minute later at 2:02 assisted by Jayne Lewis and Maddie Bishop. Moreland did not have to wait long for her second and SHU's third of the game scoring just over a minute later at 4:03, assisted by Brittany Smith and Amie Varano. Goals from Collins, Hanlon and Smith widened the margin to six for SHU before Lebanon responded with their first and only goal of the game from Liz D'Ginto on the power play.
SHU continued their damminace in the second period, adding two more goals to give the Pioneers a 8-1 lead going into the third period. Carly Radovich added a goal to her two assists in the game at 7:42 before Kathryn Darling scored the eighth assisted by Bishop and Hanlon.
The third period saw three more unanswered goals for SHU to complete an impressive attacking performance. Hayley Payne scored after just two minutes of play assisted by Darling at 2:17. At 7:43 Taylor Morland was on hand to assist Varano before Moreland went on to complete her hat trick for SHU's 11th and final goal of the night.
The Pioneers will be back in action Saturday Nov. 12th at Saint Anselm at 1 pm.
