MANCHESTER, N.H. The Sacred Heart University women's hockey team was well represented in the NEWHA postseason awards. Highlighting the selections is senior Sarah Erban who is the NEWHA Goalie of the Year, junior Olivia Bryant who was named Defender of the Year and freshman Anna Klein who was named Co-Rookie of the Year.
Jayne Lewis was named to the First Team as well as Sarah Erban, and Olivia Bryant. Freshman Kelly Solak, and senior Haley Payne were named the Second team while Anna Klein was named to the All-Rookie team and senior Brooke McGreen to the All-Sportswomanship team.
Erban had 11 shutouts over the course of the regular season, recording 459 saves and a .916 save percentage enroute to All-NEWHA honors.
Bryant earned Defensive Player of the Year tallying three goals, eight assists for 11 points this season in her junior year. She was 12th in NEWHA in defensemen scoring this season.
Lewis earned a First-Team spot, scoring 18 goals and 18 assists for 36 points this season in her junior year as she currently leads the team in goals and is second in NEWHA in points.
During her standout rookie season, Klein has 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points to her credit on her way Co-Rookie of the Year and All-Rookie Team honors.
First-year Kelly Solak earned her Second-Team spot, scoring two goals, 12 assists for 14 points to seal her outstanding first year as a Pioneer.
Senior Haley Payne earned her Second-Team spot, scoring 16 goals, nine assists for 25 point to complete her senior season.
Samantha Shoebottom as also an All-Rookie team selection as she tallied 10 goals, eight assists for 18 points in her impressive first year.
Brooke McGreen had a solid senior season to make the All-Sportswomanship team as she tallied one goal, two assists for three points to make her career totals to 113 games played with five goals, seven assists for 12 points.
SHU will face off against Franklin Pierce in the semi-final round of the NEWHA Tournament on Saturday for a 7:00 p.m. puck-drop.
