FAIRFIELD, Conn.-The Sacred Heart University Women's Rugby team was chosen to host three regional training sessions for the Women's Rugby 15s National Team. The sessions are open and the team will be practicing from 12-4pm Sunday, March 10 and March 17. The team was previously at Sacred Heart on February 17th as well. They have had four total training sessions in the Northeast in February and March, 1 at Harvard and 3 at SHU.
"It's an honor to host the Women's Eagles regional training here on campus. First, it gives us an opportunity to showcase our athletic facilities here at SHU. Second, hosting the national team's open training sessions allows us to gain some insight into Coach Cain's philosophies and what he is looking for at that level." Head Women's Rugby Coach Michelle Reed on the news of the national team practicing.
"We hope we can implement some of their techniques and drills into our practices for any of our student-athletes aspiring to reach that level of play."
The Pioneers will be hosting the Pioneer seven's tournament on April 13 beginning at 9:00 a.m.
