The Sacred Heart University women's swim team was tabbed sixth in the preseason poll of the seven Northeast Conference head coaches which was announced today by the league office. The Pioneers are now under the direction of first-year head coach John Spadafina.
"I am pleased with the progress that we have made in the first month of training," said Spadafina. "I am looking forward to watching that development continue over the course of the season and to what this group of young women can do come February."
The Pioneers begin the dual meet portion of the 2014-15 season on October 18 at Assumption College. SHU will have eight dual meet dates, taking on league foes Saint Francis Brooklyn, Wagner, and Central Connecticut State during the year. The highlight of the first semester schedule is the Frank Elm Invitational, a trials and finals championship style competition, at Rutgers University, November 22-23.
The 2015 Northeast Conference Championship will be held February 25-28th at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Defending champion Wagner received five first-place votes to earn the top-spot in the poll, with Central Connecticut earning two first-place votes to be tabbed second.
