The Sacred Heart University swim team opened the 2014-15 season at Assumption College Saturday afternoon, falling 164-89 in dual meet action.
Jillian Crosby won the 500 freestyle for the Pioneers by a comfortable margin, touching in a time of 5:27.41. She then teamed with Olivia Decas, Emily Shenk and Caleigh Dion to capture the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:43.16, just shy of the pool record.
Decas placed second in the 50 freestyle, swimming a time of 25.83, .33 behind the winner Carylyn Waite, both of whom were under the previous pool record, 25.89. She also placed third in the 100 freestyle at 56.79. Shenk finished third in both of the backstroke events, touching in 1:02.73 in the 100 backstroke and 2:18.75 in the 200 backstroke
The Pioneers are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Iona College.
