Jillian Crosby had another record setting day for the Pioneers, lowering her own 100 freestyle school record in prelims and trials. Sunday morning she swam a 53.55 to qualify in 37th place, and then moved up three spots to place 34th with her 53.48 in finals.
Crosby anchored the Pioneers 400 freestyle relay that posted a season-best time of 3:35.77, less than a quarter second off of the school record in that event. Olivia Decas, Emily Shenk and Caleigh Dion also swam legs on the relay. In preliminary heats of the 100 freestyle, Dion and Decas both swam collegiate best times, while Helen Culici swam a lifetime best of 57.38 and Aly Farnsworth touched in a season-best time.
Personal and season-best times were the story of the morning, as Meredith Nyser, Anna Brown and Gabrielle Fernandes did so in the 200 backstroke, a feat Fernandes duplicated in her 100 free. Brown qualified for a finals heat and touched at 2:12.80, to place 38th.
Hannah O'Brien placed 35th in the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 18:31.71 and Nyser was 41st in a time of 19:05.36. Both took the race out with season-best splits in the 1,000 freestyle.
Julia Pedersen posted a lifetime best in her morning 200 breaststroke swim, with Katrina Dy posting a collegiate-best and Malvina Reinhold a season-best in the event. Shenk touched in a season-best in the 200 backstroke, and Siobhan Goodman did so in the 200 butterfly in both of her swims, finishing with a 2:12.45 in the evening session.
The Pioneers, who competed in just two days of the three-day event, finished in 11th place, out of 12, with 68 points.
The Pioneers will have a weekend off, before completing the fall semester portion of their schedule at LIU Post on December 6th.
