Sacred Heart University sophomore Jillian Crosby (Port Monmouth, N.J.) was named the Northeast Conference Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday. It is the Pioneers first weekly award of the year.
Crosby, a graduate of Red Bank Catholic, earned the honor for her efforts in the dual met at Siena. She clocked a collegiate-best time, and NEC top-25 performance, on the way to winning the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:16.69. She then recorded a personal-best in the 50 freestyle, with a time of 25.88 to place second. Crosby finished the meet by anchoring the Pioneers winning 400 freestyle relay, posting a split of 53.86, the fasted 100 free of the meet.
The meet at Siena concluded the Pioneers dual meet portion of the schedule for the year. SHU now turns its focus to the 2015 Northeast Conference Championship, February 25-28 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
