Swimming Sets Pool Record In Dual Meet At Assumption

The Sacred Heart University swim team dropped a non-conference dual meet, 177-83 to host Assumption College on Saturday afternoon.  The Pioneers performance was highlighted by a pool record in the 200 freestyle relay.

Caleigh Dion, Renee Russo, Oliva Decas and Jill Crosby combined to win the 200 free relay in a time of 1:42.62, eclipsing the pool record of 1:42.78, set by the home team in 2013.

The Pioneers return to action next weekend at the Frank Elm Invitational, Friday-Sunday at Rutgers University.

The Relays

Dion led off the record setting relay in a split of 26.36, while Crosby brought home the anchor leg in 24.52

The Pioneers 400 medley relay of Brown, Poole, Goodman and Crosby finished second in a season-best time of 4:13.30

The Strokes

Anna Brown swam a season-best 1:02.58 in a second place finish in the 100 back, and also finished second in the 200 back (2:14.16)

Jessica Poole placed second in the 100 breast at 1:12.49 and placed fifth in the 100 fly (1:05.36)

The Distance Events

Nicole Sauve posted her best time of the 2015-16 campaign in placing third in the 1,000 free, touching at 11:23.70

Dion was the Pioneers top finisher in the 500 free, swimming 5:35.65

Sprint Freestyle

The Pioneers swept the top three spots in the 50 freestyle, behind Crosby's winning time of 25.86

Decas  placed second in each of the sprint freestyle events,  25.87 in the 50, 56.51 in the 100, and 2:01,85 in the 200

Dion placed third in the 50, swimming a time of 26.17
