Five Career-Best Swims Highlight Swimmings First Day At Frank Elm

The Sacred Heart University swim team opened competition at the Frank Elm Invitational at Rutgers University on Friday.  The Pioneers posted five career-bests, three collegiate-bests and nine season-best times in the opening day of the three-day invitational.

The 50 Free

Olivia Decas placed 30th with a 24.46 swim in finals, after a season-best 24.31 during preliminaries

Kaylyn Cuozzo (26.52) and Katrina Dy (25.98) posted career-best times, while four other Pioneers posted season-best times

The Relays

The 200 freestyle relay finished in time of 1:39.30, anchored by a 23.58 split from Decas

The Pioneers 400 medley relay team placed 21st at 4:03.95, while the B relay touched in 22nd at 4:14.02

Decas (59.05), Anna Brown (1:00.34) and Emily Shenk (1:03.45) all posted season-best times in the 100 back opening leg of the medley relay

The 500 Free

Jillian Crosby swam a season-best time of 5:12.58, surpassing her best midseason best time – set last season at Rutgers (5:22.69)

Nicole Sauve swam a lifetime best in her 500 free touching in a time of 5:12.58

Kaylyn Cuozzo also notched a career-best time, touching in 5:36.76

The 200 IM

Jessica Poole touched first amongst Pioneers with at 2:15.32, a collegiate best and just shy of her career-best

Both Renee Russo (2:17.45) and Dee Henry (2:27.51) recorded collegiate best swims as well in the morning
