Swimming Opens NEC Championship With Sixth Place Relay Finishes

The Sacred Heart University swim team opened the Northeast Conference Championship at MIT on Wednesday evening. The Pioneers are in sixth place with 52 points following the first two events.

The Pioneers opened the championship with a sixth-place finish in the 200 medley relay. Anna Brown led off the relay with split of 27.97. She was followed by Jessica Poole (30.72), Siobhan Goodman (26.79) and Caleigh Dion (24.28) as the Pioneers posted their best time of the season.

The 800 freestyle relay also placed sixth, touching at 7:44.05, another season-best effort.  Olivia Decas led off the relay with a 1:55.32 split, followed by Poole (1:58.26), Dion (1:57.08) and Jillian Crosby (1:53.28).

The championship resumes at 10 am on Wednesday with preliminary heats in the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle. Fans can watch live at NECFrontRow.com and follow along with live results.
