She set a McCann Natatorium pool record on her way to winning the 100-freestyle, touching at 52.49, the top time in the NEC on the weekend. Somers then anchored the winning 400 freestyle relay team to a pool record of 3:39.63, shaving nearly two seconds off of the previous mark. Somers won the 200-freestyle at 1:55.19 as well.

Somers leads the Pioneers (5-6) action twice in the coming week, traveling to New Britain for the CCSU Spring Meet on January 26 and to Newark, N.J. to take on Monmouth on January 27.
