SHU Swimming and Diving Welcomes Adam Vance to Coaching Staff

FAIRFIELD, Conn.- Head swimming and diving coach John Spadafina announced Monday morning that Adam Vance will serve as the new diving coach for Sacred Heart. 

Vance is entering his first season with the Pioneer Swimming and Diving Team.  He began his collegiate coaching at his alma mater, West Chester University of Pennsylvania, where he was a two-time All-American diver for the team. He graduated with a Bachelor's of Science, majoring in Exercise Science and minors in nutrition and athletic coaching. 

During his time with West Chester University, the men and women divers qualified six athletes to the NCAA Division II National Championships in 2011 and 2012. He was also the head coach of the West Chester Diving Club from September 2011 to August of 2013.  During his time with the club he coached the team to a USA Diving Regional Championship, and a third place USA Diving Zone Team finish.  He had the privilege of coaching many high school All-Americans, USA Diving Junior national qualifiers and finalists, along with the Eastern Interscholastic Champion.

Adam is originally from Bucks County, PA.  He currently resides in Norwalk, CT, and moved to Fairfield County five years ago. He is currently the Associate Director for Diving with Whirlwind Diving at the New Canaan YMCA. While at the YMCA, the team has seen five YMCA National Team Championships, Four USA Diving Regional Team Championships, many high school All-Americans, CT state champions, and numerous USA Diving Junior National qualifiers, finalists, and medalists.
