SOMERSET, N.J.- Junior swimmer Lauren Somers was named the Northeast Conference Swimmer of the Week as announced by the NEC this afternoon.
Somers kicked-off her 2018-19 season with three individual wins and a pair of NEC top-times of the season over the weekend. She is now a five-time weekly award winner in her career and has finished with victorious swims in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle events. The times of 52.36 and 1:54.89 in the 100 and 200, respectively, best all other NEC competitors in those events so far this season.
Her 50 freestyle also ranks second only to LIU's Brianna Vega - the defending NEC champion in the event - by just .05 of a second. The Hudson, New Hampshire native's performance helped the Pioneers defeat conference rival Central Connecticut along with LIU Post.
