Swimming and Diving Defeats Assumption 162-115 in Impressive Team Win

MILFORD, Conn.-The Sacred Heart University Swimming and Diving team defeated Assumption College by a final score of 162-115. Juniors Lauren Somers and Kim Hylan each had amazing days in the pool as Somers won three events while Hylan claimed two individual events as well as the a relay victory. The team returns to action on Friday, Nov. 30 when the team heads to ECAC Winter Championships.  

Hylan was double winner in 200 freestyle and 200 backstroke, and was also a part of winning 200 freestyle relay. Junior Lauren Somers was a triple winner in 100 breaststroke, 50 and 100 freestyle, and part of winning 200 free relay. 

Somers and freshman Nicole Tingley teamed up twice to take the top two spots in both the 50 and 100 freestyles. The 100 freestyle was a full sweep for Sacred Heart with Grace Bergstrom rounding out 3rd. Sacred Heart also took 1st and 2nd in the 100 breaststroke (Somers & Pusateri) and the 100 butterfly (Emily Peter & Taylor Eck).
