Swimming and Diving Dominates St. Francis Brooklyn on Senior Day and Posts a Perfect At-Home Season

The Sacred Heart University swimming and diving team dominated visiting team, St. Francis Brooklyn 178-120 on Saturday afternoon at the McCann Natatorium in Milford, Conn. The Pioneers finished off their dual meet season with an 8-4 record, making them undefeated at home. This is the frst time in program history the Pioneers post a perfect season in their home pool. 

The program honored juniors; Meredith Bertoni and Kim Hylan as well as seniors; Kaylyn CuozzoDee HenryJaclyn PianeseJessica PooleRenee Russo, and Nicole Sauve prior to the start of their final home meet. 

Junior Lauren Somers touched 1st in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle earning a new McCann pool record in the 200 with a time of 1:54.50. Nicole Tingley took three wins in the 50-yard butterfly, 100-yard individual medley, and 200-yard medley relay. Teammates Emily Peter and Hylan also put up a pair of 1st place finishes. First-year Taylor Eck and Molly Martin both contributed 1st place points for the Pioneers.

 The team returns to action February 13-16 to take on the Northeast Conference Championship at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, NY.
