FAIRFIELD, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University Women's Tennis team has released their 2019-20 schedule as announced by head coach William Boe-Wiegaard this afternoon. The Pioneers will kick off the season on Thursday, Sept. 13 as the Pioneers compete at the QU invite.

Following the QU Invite, the team will travel to face Holy Cross on Sunday Sept. 22, for a single matchup beginning at 11:00 a.m. SHU will then compete in the two day Army West Point Invitational (9/27-9/28).  Then the Pioneers kick off the month of October on the road at Quinnipiac for a head-to-head match at 4:00 p.m. The following day, SHU will host Siena at 12:00 p.m. at Eisenhower Park in Milford, CT.

Three days later on Oct. 9, the Pioneers will hit the road to face Monmouth for a 3:30 p.m. start. The six days later the Pioneers will travel to compete at the ITA Regionals which will be hosted by Army West Point from 10/17-10/22.

Following winter break, the Pioneers start off the spring term on the road at Columbia on Sunday Jan, 19 for a 4:00 p.m. start. The five days later the Pioneers will stay on the road at NJIT (1/24) followed by a road match at Army West Point (1/31).

The month of February will begin with a matchup against Binghamton at Army West Point on Saturday, Feb. 1. Then after a two week break the Pioneers will face Hofstra in Hempsted, N.Y. on Tuesday, Feb. 18. SHU concludes the month of February at home on Friday, February 28, when they face Stony Brook for an 11:00 a.m. start time at the Tennis Club of Trumbull. The team heads to Orlando for a trio of matches from March 2-4.

After the Pioneers face UCONN on March 11 and Providence at home March. 25, the Pioneers kick-off Northeast Conference play at Bryant on March 28 followed by a match against Merrimack the next day. The Pioneers wrap up the regular season at home first against Fairleigh Dickinson (4/2) followed by Wagner to conclude the season on April 10.

The Pioneers concluded the 2018-19 season with a 9-15 record overall and a 3-3 conference record. Graduated senior Olivia Podsiebierski was named to the 2019 NEC Women's Tennis Second Team All-Conference as she had an impressive season this year going 6-15 in singles play while going 11-14 overall in doubles and 5-3 in Northeast Conference doubles play. She was also recently named to the NEC All-Tournament team that season.
